Announcing our Gold Coast Research Trial

After three successful years of providing MaaS subscriptions to students and staff at The University of Queensland, the UQ MaaS research trial is coming to an end on the 4th of August, 2024. We want to thank the more than 12,000 participants who have supported this program and helped our project learn more about how this new form of transport pricing could be made available to more Australians.

The good news is that the end of the UQ MaaS trial doesn’t mean the end of multi-modal subscriptions in South East Queensland!

We are excited to announce that a new set of ODIN PASS subscriptions will be made available from the 5th of August, 2024, as part of a new research trial being launched by Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, iMOVE, Gold Coast City Council, The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University.

As part of this new research trial – ODIN PASS subscriptions will be made available to more people living in Queensland. This will initially include Griffith University students – with a particular focus on those living and/or studying on the Gold Coast, and will later be expanded to include other user groups living near and/or working on the Gold Coast. Our program will also remain open to students and staff at The University of Queensland. You can read more about this new research project at iMOVE Australia’s website.

Stay tuned! We will launch an Expression of Interest form for joining this new research trial in early July (not required for existing ODIN PASS users).

In line with the recent announcement of Queensland Government’s 50-cent public transport fare trial, we are also revising the pricing of our passes. To account for this significant reduction in fares, we are phasing in the new pricing over the course of July, 2024, according to the following schedule:

The pricing above accounts for Queensland Government’s 50 cent public transport fare trial starting on the 5th of August, 2024, and that 30-day ODIN PASS bundles purchased from the 8th of July, 2024, will be active for the start of the 50 cent trial in August.

Similar to the research trial we have run over the past three years, we will review our pricing on a regular basis and announce any future price changes in advance. This new trial will also be subject to similar user caps where we may need to pause the on-boarding of new users and/or the sale of new passes, to ensure our program remains on budget while we collect and analyse data under this new pricing structure.
